# Brand Health

### What is it?

Track how the business's own brand is performing over time, including awareness, consideration, preference, and equity.

***Also known as:*** *Brand tracking, brand equity monitoring, brand measurement*

### Why it matters

Brand strength is a leading indicator of commercial performance. Businesses with high awareness, strong consideration, and clear preference typically convert more efficiently, retain customers longer, and command better margins. Brand Health tracking gives the organisation an early signal of whether its brand is building or eroding before the effects show up in commercial results.

### When it matters most

Brand Health tracking is most valuable as a continuous discipline rather than a one-off exercise, since trends matter more than single data points. It becomes particularly important after a major brand investment, a rebrand or repositioning, a reputational event, or when commercial performance is declining and the cause is unclear. It is also relevant before a significant pricing or product change, to understand the brand equity that supports or limits those moves.
